Однако большинство стоматологов не придают значения тому, что эта рентгенологическая методика позволяет визуализировать изменения не только костей лицевого отдела черепа, но и мягких тканей шеи, одним из которых являются кальцинаты сонных артерий (КСА). Визуализация КСА говорит о наличии у пациента атеросклероза сосудов шеи, который, в свою очередь, является одной из основных причин нарушения мозгового кровообращения по ишемическому типу. Все это подтверждает тот факт, что оценка ОПТГ как скринингового метода выявления КСА является перспективным направлением, которое в будущем, возможно, позволит снизить уровень кардио- и цереброваскулярных осложнений атеросклероза</p></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><p>Orthopantomography (OPTG) is performed routinely as a diagnostic method for practically any dental disease. However, most dentists don’t attach importance to the fact that this X-ray technique allows to visualize the changes not only of the facial bones of the skull, and also of the soft tissues of the neck, one of which are calcifications of the carotid arteries (CCA). CCA visualization shows the presence of the atherosclerosis of the arteries of the neck in this patient, which in turn is one of the main causes of cerebrovascular accident by ischemic type.
