Scrotal Calcification in Children (Literature Review with Their Own Clinical Observations)

Abstract

A casuistically rare observation of multiple calcifications in the tunica vaginalis of the right testicle in a full-term baby with calcification in the liver and multilocular subependymal cysts is presented. The boy was hospitalized with suspicion of inguinal hernia, an accurate diagnosis was made with ultrasonography. Presumptive etiologic factor was toxoplasmosis. The article contains an extensive review of the literature on calcifications of the scrotum of various etiologies in children of all age groups. All variants of calcifications, presented in the literature, are supplemented by own observations and illustrative material. The possibilities of high-resolution ultrasonography in assessing testicular structures in children are discussed.
