Abstract

Breast cancer (BC) in young women is cancer that has developed in women aged less than 40 years. Purpose of this study was to compare the overall diagnostic performance of CESM and digital mammography (DM) in detecting breast cancer in women under 40 years. The study group included 75 patients.

When analyzing the data obtained, all indicators of diagnostic effectiveness in CESM statistically significantly exceeded the DM data.

Thus, due to the ability to assess vascularization, CESM is characterized by higher sensitivity in the diagnosis of breast cancer in young women comparing to DM.

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has the potential to improve the diagnosis and effectiveness of breast cancer treatment. However, the use of AI in medicine in general, and in mammology in particular, requires regulation by legislative and legal acts to ensure the protection of patients’ rights, safety and quality of medical care. Special attention should be paid to the training of medical personnel and the development of new technologies and methods of working with AI. There are laws and regulations governing the use of AI in mammology around the world. This article reviews the laws governing the use of AI in breast radiology in Western Europe, Asia, and the United States.

Abstract

Ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS) is a breast carcinoma (BC) consisting of malignant cells in the ductal lumen of the breast without invasion beyond the epithelial membrane. The article presents a rare clinical case of the combined course of chronic mastitis and ductal carcinoma in situ in a 47-year-old female patient who was diagnosed with chronic mastitis during instrumental examination, and only after trepan biopsy and subsequent histological examination, intraductal breast cancer in situ was verified. This may indicate that instrumental methods and techniques are insufficiently informative in diagnosing ductal carcinoma in situ against the background of chronic mastitis.

Abstract

The difficulties of timely diagnosis of primary multiple synchronous breast cancer with histological heterogeneity of tumors are demonstrated by a clinical example. Taking into account the fact that breast cancer continues to lead among all oncological pathology and accounts for 11.8% of all malignant neoplasms, diagnostic algorithms of the stage should be personalized. The presented clinical case demonstrates multidisciplinary errors committed at different stages of the patient’s examination.
